  1. What type of education does the SE First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Program offer?

We specialize in delivering Indigenous health care education through in-person and online programs, including courses, workshops, and customized sessions. To learn more about our First Nations, Inuit, and Métis education offerings, visit the website or contact our team directly.

  1. Can the training be customized for our community’s specific needs?

Yes, we collaborate closely with communities to tailor content that aligns with their unique learning needs. Whether delivered virtually or in person, our education is designed to be both relevant and culturally safe, ensuring it meets the specific needs of the communities we serve.

  1. Is the education available in person?

We offer virtual and in-person, and we can arrange in-person delivery based on the community’s needs. This includes workshops, training sessions, or multi-day programs.

  1. What payment methods do you accept for paid programs and courses?

We accept a variety of payment methods for your convenience, including:

  1. What technology is required for virtual sessions?

A computer or mobile device and a reliable internet connection are required for virtual sessions. Technical support is available to help with access issues.

  1. Do you offer support before or after the course?

Our team is available to support participants before, during, and after the program. This includes technical support, answering content-related questions, and providing necessary follow-up materials.

  1. Are the virtual sessions recorded?

The virtual sessions are recorded for registered participants, so you can review the material as needed. They are available on the learning platform for 4 weeks after the final session.

  1. What is the process to register for an online account?

To register for any paid programs, visit our website SE First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Program, select the education program you wish to purchase. To purchase, you must register for a free account; a verification email will be sent to your email address, allowing you to purchase any courses. Please contact selearning@sehc.com if you have any questions or comments. We will guide you through the steps and answer any questions to ensure a smooth process.

  1. Is there any certification upon course completion?

Our education programs and courses offer certificates of completion to recognize your achievements in conjunction with SE Health Career College.

  1. Can multiple members of our team attend?

Yes, our courses are designed for both individual and team participation. If you are interested in group rates or team-specific sessions, reach out, and we will tailor a package that works for your organization.

  1. Is there a refund or cancellation policy?

For virtual education, cancellations made 14 days in advance are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made fewer than 14 days in advance will be subject to fees plus applicable provincial taxes. Full details are available on our website. Refund Policy

The cancellation policy for customized in-person education will be outlined in the contract.

  1. Who are the educators?

Our educators are experienced Indigenous professionals and allies with Indigenous health, community engagement, and education backgrounds. They bring expertise and understanding of Indigenous communities’ unique healthcare needs.

  1. Are your courses and programs accredited?

The First Nations, Inuit and Métis Program is accredited through Québec-based organization la SOFEDUC (The Society for Education and Training). We offer continuing education units (CEUs) for courses and programs. For more information, please contact us at atyoursidefnim@sehc.com .

@YourSide Colleague is SE Health’s award-winning e-learning platform. More than 18 health-education courses are available at no cost to health care providers and those in related roles who practice in Indigenous communities and organizations, on topics such as cancer care, diabetes care, cardiac care, Elder care, palliative and end-of-life care, and many more!

Vocational Learning and Certification

  1. What sets the SE First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Program apart from other vocational learning?

SE Career College of Health is a regulated not-for-profit vocational school registered as a private career college under the Private Career Colleges Act of 2005, focusing exclusively on health education. The Indigenous vocational programs are led by Indigenous Instructors and allies who understand Indigenous learners’ unique strengths and barriers and challenges which Indigenous learners may experience. We are committed to cultural safety, ensuring it is an essential component woven throughout our programs and an approach modelled by our instructors.

We provide a comprehensive orientation to our online learning platform to increase student success. Our dedicated Student Success Coordinator works with individual students to support our learners’ wholistic needs when required.

  1. Where Does your SE Career College operate its vocational programs?

The SE Career College of Health meets or exceeds the highest education standards and is registered as a career college under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005. Our college specializes in preparing healthcare providers to function effectively as front-line caregivers and valued members of the circle of care in community and facility settings.

The SE Health Career College of Health is located at 1471 John Counter Blvd, Unit 410, Kingston, ON, K7M 8S8.

The vocational programs offered by SE Health’s First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Program follow a blended delivery model. This approach combines in-person sessions, e-learning, instructor-led virtual classes, and practicum experiences, allowing learners to remain in their communities as much as possible.

  1. As a student, what can I expect to learn from my experience with the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Program?

Students gain firsthand experience with culturally safe healthcare practices and learn about Indigenous healing methods, wholistic perspectives, and community-focused care models. Students will gain valuable insights that can support the provision of wholistic care.

  1. How are your courses delivered?

We offer a blended approach, combining online virtual learning with in-person sessions. Virtual components provide flexibility, while in-person sessions focus on hands-on skill development.

  1. What does “blended delivery” mean?

Blended delivery combines online learning (virtual classes, self-paced modules) with in-person training and practical skill sessions to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.

  1. How do I register for a course?

  1. What do I need to participate in the virtual classes?

You only need a stable internet connection, a computer or device with video and audio capabilities, and a quiet space to participate.

Yes, in conjunction with SE Health Career College participants receive a certificate that acknowledges the skills and training completed in our programs.

  1. Will I work directly with Indigenous communities during my placement?

Yes, student placements are designed to involve meaningful interactions with communities. During your placement, you will work alongside experienced healthcare providers to understand and support the health needs of the community.

  1. What kind of support will I receive during my placement?

Students in the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Program receive comprehensive support, including orientation, cultural safety training, mentorship, and supervision from SE Health staff. We strive to create a welcoming environment that helps students develop their skills and understanding of culturally safe care.
