Patti Benson (Nanigishkung) is 10th Generation of the Benson family to Reside in Rama First Nation (Mnjikaning). Oldest of 3, Mother to one and Auntie to many from the Caribou (Hoof Clan).
She started learning Anishinaabemowin from a young age from Grandmothers in the Community, not growing up without her culture, she strived to learn as much as she could when she became a mother to her son.
She is a self taught seamstress and creator who used her passion for sewing as a form of Healing which she calls “Therapeutic Creativity” who’s designs have been sent all over Turtle Island. Who feels her gift of the love of sewing stems from blood memory of her Grandmothers.
Once she began finding her place along the Red Road, she began sharing what she could and began working with the Greater Native Community and various organizations within Simcoe County (Williams Treaty Territory) doing sewing workshops and sharing Cultural Knowledge learned from Safe Elder’s and Traditional Knowledge Keepers.
