Enhanced Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program

About the Program

The complexity of care for community-based older adults has increased significantly in recent years. Coupled with ongoing challenges in recruitment and retention, there is a growing need for Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to pursue formal education to enhance their skills and knowledge. As the primary caregivers within communities, PSWs play a critical role in supporting these increasingly complex clients.

The Enhanced Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program provides specialized, comprehensive, and up-to-date education designed for certified PSWs serving First Nations communities. This program empowers PSWs with the advanced knowledge and practical skills required to address the evolving complexities of communities while supporting older adults to remain in their homes for as long as possible through evidence-informed, high-quality care.

This program includes:

  • 7 Self-directed e-learning webinars (pre-recorded)
  • 3-day in-person skills training

Participants must complete the webinars prior to attending the in-person training.

Graduates of the Enhanced PSW Program receive a certificate of completion from the not-for-profit, regulated SE Career College of Health in Kingston.
